GameDev.TV GameJam 2025 - Yay!

Every year I try to jump into this particular game jam. I really appreciate that it gives us a bit more breathing room than the usual 24 or 48-hour sprints. That said, I actually managed to wrap this one up in just two days, squeezing it in between work commitments!
The theme this year is Tiny World. I chose to pluralise this as I couldn't think of any great ideas.
I came up with a kind of Pool with Planets idea. The core rules are pretty much classic pool, but instead of different colored balls, you're potting planets for points. These planets aren't just for show – they vary in size and mass. That means the smaller ones will go flying a bit more easily, while the bigger ones require a bit more oomph to get moving.
It's definitely not the most mind-blowing game you'll ever play, but I'm genuinely proud that, unlike some previous years, I actually finished this one on time! All the sounds are there, the graphics are in place, and there are no glaring omissions. Sure, there are probably a ton of bugs lurking, but hey, that's half the fun of game jams, right?
As per the jam's rules, I stuck to using only free assets or ones I created myself. I've listed them all on the game page, but if you haven't already, you should check out the Pixel Planet Creator by Deep-Fold. It's an absolute gem and made creating the planet sprites a breeze!
I hope this game brings you at least 2 minutes of entertainment.
